I’ll resist the temptation to quote perhaps the most famous line in fashion-themed cinematic history for the second time in this trend report, FL Omaha FSU Nolemaha Baseball Shirt but let’s just say florals are hardly revolutionary when it comes to the warmer months. At least they weren’t until designers decided to double down on the trend and give it the gusto it has long been craving with a new take on blooms. We spotted a plethora of pretty 3D floral embellishments across plenty of collections (how gorgeous are Zimmermann’s waterfall petals?), as well as flowers so giant, they’re giving Alice in Wonderland-levels of psychedelia. “Spring/summer 2024 has moved the conversation so far forward that ditsy prints have left the chat and now we’re on to big, bad blooms,” says Farrell. “Imagine yourself submerged into a three-dimensional garden of plump peonies and trails of forsythias, and you’re a little closer to this year’s take on the ubiquitous print. Embellishment, embroidery and saturated colours are employed to help bring this living garden to life (and in the case of Balmain and Cecilie Bahnsen, you can expect bouquet detailing so real you can almost smell it). In short, 2024 is the year that florals are taking root.”

Whilst Dior was largely black and white as usual, the rest of Paris really went out with most outfits bearing a real pop of colour. FL Omaha FSU Nolemaha Baseball Shirt How wonderful! Normally we look forward to colourful Spring/Summer seasons but it looks as though Winter 24/25 will also be a colourful one. Of course there was still plenty of black and white out there on the streets. Surprisingly Paris was not as suited as usual. The suit is still a great staple to have but the streets saw fashionistas largely concentrating on creative outfits in favour of the regular suit. Standard blazers often being replaced by colourful bomber style jackets or cutely cropped vegan leather jackets. One could almost say that a Courrèges jacket is this seasons fashionista’s must have. On the jewellery front interesting choker style necklaces are making a comeback. Even simply wearing a silk rose around your neck is a great statement. OMG that reminds me of pictures from the 1920’s. When it comes to earrings, jewellery designers are counting on us all having more than one piercing – Dior included. At some stage I felt like every second woman was wearing the Alberta Ferretti Asymmetric Creolen earrings. A newish trend for rings is to wear them at knuckle level. Personally I think it looks great but would be too afraid of loosing mine to follow this trend. Colourful boots, the new trouser boot, designer Mary Jane ballerinas and fancy sneakers are the hot trends when it comes to footwear. The oversized gingham pattern is making a comeback and there were plenty of shorter furry jackets to be seen.
