MrBeast’s 10-year-old clip was “dug up” again because it correctly predicted the future of YouTube, from YouTube TV, PewDiePie to his own popularity.
A 10-year-old video of Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast, has suddenly been “dug up” by netizens and gone viral, as many of the predictions he made in it have almost exactly matched the current state of YouTube.
In the video titled “YouTube in 10 years?????”, the then-unknown MrBeast talked about the prospect of the platform becoming a place for broadcasting TV shows and a massive network of channels. This has now become reality with YouTube TV and the rise of many professional channels.
He even predicted:
“In 10 years, we will walk into our kids’ rooms and see them watching FaZe Clan videos, and we’ll say: ‘FaZe Clan used to only post Call of Duty.’”
Donaldson also confidently stated that he would become famous:
“In 10 years, I will be a YouTube celebrity, and you’ll think, ‘I remember watching this guy when he had less than 3,000 subscribers, and the content was terrible!’”
He also mentioned PewDiePie, predicting that the Swedish YouTuber would reach 117 million subscribers. In reality, PewDiePie currently has around 110 million subscribers. While MrBeast’s prediction wasn’t completely accurate, the number wasn’t far off.
The “YouTube king” even hinted that YouTube would tighten its policies on ad blocking, which is now happening with the platform’s recent moves against ad blockers.
This video currently has fewer than 300,000 views, but it has unexpectedly appeared in the recommendations of many users and amazed fans. Many comments express surprise:
-
“Why am I only seeing this video now?”
-
“Wow, it’s showing up at just the right time after 10 years.”
-
“He sees the future with 20/20 vision.”
The accuracy of these predictions from a teenage YouTuber back then has further cemented MrBeast’s image as a visionary figure in the world of online content creation.
MrBeast, born in 1998 in the United States, is currently the most subscribed YouTuber in the world, surpassing PewDiePie with more than 300 million subscribers (as of mid-2025). He is famous for his large-budget challenge videos and is also the face behind massive charity campaigns such as Team Trees—which planted 20 million trees, and Team Seas—which donated millions of meals and helped clean the ocean.
Unlike many creators who want to forget their early beginnings, MrBeast has always been proud of his first videos, even promising to release more old footage each time he reaches new milestones.
