I’m a huge fan of ’70s fashion. Illustration of Santa Claus with Red Hat and White Beard Ceramic Mug The era created a host of trends that still stand up today, whether you realize they’re from that time or not. Think of our current obsession with bright over-the-knee boots, folk-inspired printed dresses, velvet, corduroy, boho blouses, midi skirts, and so on. While the ’70s sweep over the runways every couple of seasons, there’s always a hint of it on the streets if you look closely. Think of the iconic designer names that were indelibly marked into history during this decade, like Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, and Diane von Furstenberg. It was also a period where mass-market, trend-driven fashion was more readily available. Barbara Hulanicki’s Biba kick-started the idea in London a decade earlier alongside boutiques like Bus Stop, and cool, connected girls were able to switch up their looks more readily, which likely led to the 1001 aesthetics and key pieces that came out of this electric time. This glamorous period also produced a slew of unforgettable, high-octane, high-profile style icons. Think Farrah Fawcett, Grace Jones, Bianca Jagger, Diana Ross, Cher, and Debbie Harry. Their fabulousness was met in equal parts by the casual ’70s crew: Ali MacGraw, Diane Keaton, Jane Birkin, and company repped the kind of ’70s style that feels more like brunch in NYC rather than wild nights at Studio 54. Whether you’re into hippies, disco queens, rockers, punks, or retro nerds, I’d recommend following @70sbabes on Instagram for a daily dose. What you’ll notice when looking through these archival shots is that so many retro fashion moments still feel relevant. Keep reading to see which 50-year-old trends we’re still wearing today.

Maybe all French girls are blessed with excellent pins like Ellie from Slip Into Style, Illustration of Santa Claus with Red Hat and White Beard Ceramic Mug or perhaps they just know exactly how to play out a slashed-to-there hemline and not look overdone. We love the flirty, casual ratio of a marl tee and flats with a revealing skirt. As any well put-together French maven will tell you, there is nothing less attractive than hobbling around in high heels. It’s all about looking cool and breezy. It’s no wonder many French girls (like influencer Anne-Laure Mais of Adenorah) turn to classic brands for classic pieces. For example, Karl Lagerfeld never produces sky-high stilettos at Chanel—just clever ones like the toe-cap mules that you can slip on and off and last in all day. Anne-Laure’s simple two-strap sandals are actually from her own brand, Musier Paris. No self-respecting French girl would consider their wardrobe complete without a blazer (or 10). They are the beautifully tailored glue that holds all looks together. We’re not talking about waist-cinching of the extreme variety, but French women always make sure that their figure is in some way in check—even when wearing loose-fitting clothes. Blogger Aria Di Bari provides an excellent example: A shapeless tunic gets the right treatment by this nonchalantly knotted belt. Anne-Laure Mais has a similar approach to Carine Roitfeld when it comes to sultry dressing: It’s all about a 50/50 ratio. Yes, you can see she’s wearing a bodiced black dress with a thigh slit (with no bra, in true français fashion), but the rest of her look is disheveled and relaxed. Walking this line successfully? It’s all down to confidence.

Good value
It’s summer and I practically live in T-shirts every day. I bought three of the two-packs in different colors and all were cut to fit the same, colors were very true to photos. Soft, comfortable, I’d definitely buy more if needed.

Perfect fit
These T-shirts are a perfect fit both before washing and after. Cotton can be a worrisome as it can shrink in the wash. These shirts didn’t shrink at all. The color was as bright after washing as it was before.

I bought this to purposefully be oversized so I order a size XL. It’s very comfortable and holds up well in the wash. It’s a conversation starter and always a big hit. I like to wear with my bicycle yoga shorts.
