I’ll resist the temptation to quote perhaps the most famous line in fashion-themed cinematic history for the second time in this trend report, Kalen Deboer thank you coach shirt but let’s just say florals are hardly revolutionary when it comes to the warmer months. At least they weren’t until designers decided to double down on the trend and give it the gusto it has long been craving with a new take on blooms. We spotted a plethora of pretty 3D floral embellishments across plenty of collections (how gorgeous are Zimmermann’s waterfall petals?), as well as flowers so giant, they’re giving Alice in Wonderland-levels of psychedelia. “Spring/summer 2024 has moved the conversation so far forward that ditsy prints have left the chat and now we’re on to big, bad blooms,” says Farrell. “Imagine yourself submerged into a three-dimensional garden of plump peonies and trails of forsythias, and you’re a little closer to this year’s take on the ubiquitous print. Embellishment, embroidery and saturated colours are employed to help bring this living garden to life (and in the case of Balmain and Cecilie Bahnsen, you can expect bouquet detailing so real you can almost smell it). In short, 2024 is the year that florals are taking root.”

If you think the Hamptons and Martha’s Vineyard are the best locales to pick up inspiration for old-money style, Kalen Deboer thank you coach shirt you’ve probably never been to Cannes or seen what people wear during the French city’s annual film festival. Elegant, refined, and effortless, the outfits spotted at the Cannes Film Festival are some of the chicest you’ll see on celebrities for the entire year. And this season’s festivities, which are going on as we speak, are far from disappointing. One of the buzziest names in attendance this year is Sydney Sweeney. The actress has already debuted a handful of stunning looks, including a gorgeous Miu Miu peek-a-boo slip and a low-key Celine bra–and–jeans ensemble she wore to hang out on a yacht. But her best look (so far) was the hooded Miu Miu tweed micro-minidress, Miu Miu Matelassé top handle bag, penny loafers, and tortoiseshell shades she wore over the weekend while leaving Hotel Martinez. The daytime outfit was nonchalant yet impactful, an example of Cannes street style at its best. Of course, copying the look might be tricky unless you have a couple of thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket right now. However, I did some digging and found the perfect alternative, which happens to be included in Abercrombie’s epic spring sale. Below, see the tweed mini and matching lady jacket that’s begging to be worn with loafers and cat-eye shades for your next seaside vacation.
