Live Fast Eat Trash Opossum & Raccoon shirt
The other day, I was scrolling through some truly bizarre internet rabbit holes – as you do – and stumbled on a shirt, emblazoned with the words Live Fast Eat Trash. My immediate thought? Well, it wasn’t some deep philosophical contemplation, but rather, a chuckle. It felt… relatable. The graphic featured an opossum and a raccoon, looking all nonchalant and mischievous. It’s so true, isn’t it? These critters, these scrappy survivors, they’re the embodiment of making the best of what you’ve got. They aren’t fancy, but they’re getting by, figuring it out, one discarded pizza crust at a time. It felt like a perfect encapsulation of a certain kind of… well, a chaotic joy, perhaps?

Honestly, I’m not sure why this shirt design got under my skin, but it did. Maybe it’s the sheer absurdity of it. The idea that this is a lifestyle choice is humorous, but it also reflects a certain reality. There’s a resilience there, a refusal to be picky. They’ll take what they can get, they’ll adapt, and they’ll keep going. It reminds me of the time I tried to make a gourmet meal out of the leftovers in my fridge after a hurricane, and it was a bit of a disaster, yet it was also a story, and the joy of keeping going.

You know, growing up, my mom used to call me a “little scavenger.” I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the nickname back then, but now, wearing this shirt I saw on the internet seems quite ironic and perhaps, even a badge of honor. I would find the perfect discarded crayon, or the half-eaten sandwich crust that I was still obsessed with. In this weird world, there’s something to be said for the grit. For that willingness to roll with the punches, to make do, to find beauty in the unexpected. The shirt, and these animals, just perfectly capture that energy, it reflects a hidden truth for many of us.

The shirt’s slogan is a reminder that survival isn’t always pretty. It’s often messy, a bit embarrassing, and involves some less-than-appetizing things. The opossum and raccoon, they aren’t worried about appearances. They’re focused on the basics: surviving, finding food, and getting by in a world that isn’t always kind. I wish I could be as unbothered sometimes. Like the time I dropped a whole tray of lasagna at a family gathering – no shame, just pick it up and eat it.

It also made me think about privilege. It’s a reminder of a different kind of freedom. A freedom from expectations, from pretense. The ability to embrace the raw, unfiltered reality of life. The opossums and raccoons, they don’t care about status, about being ‘liked.’ They’re just -being-. Maybe there’s a lesson in that, a quiet wisdom in the way they navigate the world, without a care in the world. I mean, they’re practically living a punk rock life, minus the mohawks.

So, yeah, I’m thinking about buying the shirt. Not because I aspire to live in a dumpster, but because it feels like a genuine, honest expression, of not taking life too seriously. Because sometimes, we all need a little reminder that it’s okay to be a bit scrappy, a bit messy, to eat the metaphorical trash and keep moving forward. It’s a good reminder to get up, brush off the dirt, and keep on truckin’, you know?

Great price and nice fit.
This product fits great. I have a 44 inch waist and I am 5’8” tall. These fit me nice but not too snug leaves enough room to breathe. The material feels thick but not tight and itchy. Great product for the price

Worthy replacement
It was slightly smaller, but then I’m slightly bigger now after Thanksgiving. The color is an exact match to my old ones of large size, from 1979. It helped my new/old fatigues look perfect.
