Nollaig shona duit Santa Christmas shirt
The first thing that springs to mind when I think about Nollaig Shona Duit Santa Christmas shirt is the memory of my Nana. Every year, without fail, she’d pull out this old, faded red shirt, with a slightly crooked Santa Claus appliquéd on the front. It wasn’t some designer thing; the stitches were a bit wonky, clearly homemade, and I’m pretty certain the felt Santa had lost an eye somewhere along the way. Yet, putting it on, well, it felt like the very essence of Christmas. It wrapped me in warmth, not just from the fabric, but from the hug of my Nana’s love.

The texture of the shirt, a bit rough from years of washes, always reminded me of the scent of cinnamon and cloves that would fill her kitchen. That scent mingled with the aroma of the Christmas tree, pine needles crackling in the fireplace. We would sit there, the whole family, gathered around the fire, laughing, gossiping and telling the same stories year after year. It sounds a bit cheesy, I guess, but it felt magical. The shirt wasn’t just clothing; it was a tangible link to those traditions, to that warmth and belonging.

I distinctly remember trying on the shirt one year, maybe I was eight or nine. It felt massive then, almost swallowing me whole, the sleeves dragging past my fingertips. I remember feeling a childish thrill, imagining myself as a miniature Santa, spreading cheer to everyone. My cousins and I would run around the house, attempting to slide down the stairs on cushions, all the while wearing the iconic red shirt. We believed we looked like proper Christmas elves. Later on, as I grew up, the shirt started to feel a bit different. The magic didn’t fade, but it evolved. The faded red became a symbol of continuity, a reminder of all the Christmases past. It became a comfort. The shirt, and its worn out Santa, embodied a simplicity I appreciated more and more as life became complex. There’s something deeply reassuring in the unchanging nature of a well-loved thing.

Soft and great color but small to fit
Bought a medium but should have bought a large. Much smaller than expected. Letting the younger kids use them instead

Good price
These Tee shirts fit as expected. Washed in cold water and tumble dry. Some shrinking due to 100% cotton.
